I hope you all had a great start to the year! After a slightly manic run-up, my New Year’s Eve itself was very quiet. I enjoyed all the festive treats on offer and spent the last few hours of 2015 in my bed (I was too tired to do anything that I even missed the countdown!). Now that the holiday feastings are over, I need to get back to my workout mat and work off everything I horked down the past month. Yikes!
Anyway, this season has marked my first experience of being a Marla girl — actually, of being part of a project / collaboration for that matter! Picking a bag from their SS16 collection to share with you was nearly impossible, but it will come as no surprise when this visually minimalist crossbody bag in black with gray and gold accent won my heart. The size is perfect to carry my essentials (tiny wallet, lip balm, red lipstick, cellphone — I don’t carry a lot of stuff with me), and the skinny strap can be adjusted to my liking. Also, it is lightweight with a sturdy material that doesn’t get dirty-looking. For someone like me who doesn’t wear a lot of colour — and much too lazy to change bags everyday — this piece makes the perfect, classic finishing touch to any minimalist outfit.
I opted for a knitted turtleneck top and donned my favorite fit and flare skirt on the day of the photoshoot — both in black, no less. Then I had a little war with myself over what pair of shoes to match the outfit with: black pumps or white sneakers? Black pumps won, obviously. I was so excited that I forgot to untie my hair before the shoot! The photoshoot was snappy, given the professional capacity of Dubai’s well-known photographer and blogger, Mariyah of www.mahryska.com who initiated the session. It would have been a great opportunity for me to meet other featured bloggers that day but I had been tied-up with other commitments for the scheduled afternoon shoot. Nevertheless, it was thrilling to see how they have styled their Marla bags. Scroll down to see!!!
